Poesis is aiming to provide different sorts of activities for all ages. The below activities will therefore expand over time.
Events
Talks and workshops
At Poesis all discussion begins with the assumption that humanity is entering a period of unprecedented transformation, whether we’re shaping it or merely responding. Every other week Poesis will host a guest contributor who will help us explore the situation we are in as well as how we can respond; individually, collectively and as a community. Topics may be based in the areas of philosophy, economics, environment, society, our spiritual lives, democracy, art and more.
Long-table lunch
Long-table lunches are an invitation for the local community to come together, to share a one-pot meal and conversation.
This weekend’s lunch is now cancelled, but look out in the future for further events
Philosophy Club for kids
This club for 8-11 year old provides the opportunity for children to engage in philosophical discussions about things that matters to them; inviting them to listen to and learn from each other as well as developing their own thoughts. It supports the children to recognise and respond to the big questions that are all around us in school and society; providing a way to work with them that helps make meaning.
Taking place weekly in Scarcroft school, Poesis is seeking funding to extend the offer and expand into a local secondary school.
Leadership Circles
Leadership circles use the context of the woods, campfire and circle to give leaders a regular space to reflect on their practice.
Circles are a unique and deeply experiential approach, creating spacious communication, based in deep listening, respect and authenticity.
Slowing down and listening to what needs to emerge - in ourselves and others - gives space for innate wisdom, collective intelligence and transformation; the impact of which is felt, not only in the circle, but in our wider experience of life and work.
Leadership circles happen monthly on Fridays, in woods near Stamford Bridge, York
