Poesis Outreach projects
Poesis aims to provide different sorts of activities for all ages and at times it makes sense to go to where people are already meeting
Mindful Mediation
The nature of the modern world can feel relentless and pressured, impacting us in many different ways. Mindfulness can be one resource to help us navigate our lives in ways that allow us to have more of a sense of stillness and ease.
At Poesis we are always thinking about what are practices we will need for the future, and we would suggest mediation is a key one. A practice that can help us to respond to things as they are, and a resource to turn to for resilience.
This will be an introductory 5-week course and will be provided at Kyra Women’s Project. It will be teaching the basics of mindfulness meditation; exploring how to we direct our attention in a deliberate manner to focus on the present experience of our body, mind and emotions.
Philosophy Club for kids
This club for 8-11 year old provides the opportunity for children to engage in philosophical discussions about things that matters to them; inviting them to listen to and learn from each other as well as developing their own thoughts. It supports the children to recognise and respond to the big questions that are all around us in school and society; providing a way to work with them that helps make meaning.
This takes place Weekly in Scarcroft School, York.
