Events
Poesis is aiming to provide different sorts of activities for all ages. The below activities will therefore expand over time.
Talks and workshops
At Poesis all discussion begins with the assumption that humanity is entering a period of unprecedented transformation, whether we’re shaping it or merely responding. Every other week Poesis will host a guest contributor who will help us explore the situation we are in as well as how we can respond; individually, collectively and as a community. Topics may be based in the areas of philosophy, economics, environment, society, our spiritual lives, democracy, art and more.

Singing Circles
There are many big challenges we face in the world, what are all the different ways we can respond? One way is to sing!
This singing circle is simply for the joy of singing. Jess who runs it is a creative practitioner who uses singing as a tool for connection and community building. It really is for anyone and all ages (10 - 100 years) and no singing experience is necessary. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. It will take place 7pm – 8.30pm on alternate Wednesdays, with a break in the middle for tea and cake.

Philosophy Club for kids
This club for 8-11 year old provides the opportunity for children to engage in philosophical discussions about things that matters to them; inviting them to listen to and learn from each other as well as developing their own thoughts. It supports the children to recognise and respond to the big questions that are all around us in school and society; providing a way to work with them that helps make meaning.
This takes place Mondays at 3.15 in Scarcroft School, York.
Booking is done every half term. Get in touch to for your child to be added to the waiting list for when places come available.
